Ultimate Band

I can't spell too well, but this isn't my fault... it's from an Aussie News Release:

February 28, 2008 - With the announcement of their new game, Ultimate Band, Disney Interactive Studios has revealed more details in a press release for the game.

The premise of the game is to build up your own rock band, whether solo, or playing along with your friends. Disney's press release says they're in collaboration with "some of the very biggest names in rock, alternative, popular, emo and indie rock music" to bring a variety of tunes to the title. Players can perform as the front man, bass player, guitarist or drummer.

Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing for Disney Interactive Studios, said that "whether they choose guitar, drums, bass or front man, members don’t need to buy costly, single-function peripherals to play their way through Ultimate Band’s deep song list, dynamic venues, and customizable characters. The Wii Remote and DS stylus are the only tools they’ll need to reach rock stardom in Ultimate Band."

"Instantly-recognisable songs from classic rock to current hit singles" will be in the tune line-up for Ultimate Band, including older favourites as well as new popular songs. Disney has been working with Radial Music, a London-based music consultant to "compile the perfect song list for Ultimate Band," according to Radial Music's David Hill. "With iconic songs from every decade since the 60s, these games feature music for everyone."

Ultimate Band is set to hit the Wii in Autumn 2008, presumably in the US. The studio working on the title, Fall Line Studio, also worked on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, which will be released at around the same time as the upcoming movie, and Disney's version of online interaction, DGamer.

The Wii version of Ultimate Band centres around the player "advancing their music careers and popularity from playing in a neighbourhood garage to performing in front of an international audience at a world famous venue", and playing various instruments of their choice, whether it be the bass, drums, lead guitar or being the front man of the band. Player characters can be customised to suit their personalities, and new accessories, songs and venues can be unlocked as play progresses.

The DS Ultimate Band features a recording studio, and is described as "a rhythm-based music game". In this game, players can choose between playing the bass, drums, lead or rhythm guitar. The DS version also features the ability to create your own songs, and add mixing effects. DGamer is also a feature of this version, allowing players "to engage with others in a secure online community via their DS (Wi-Fi or ad hoc) or computer."
