Commonsense Media

csm.jpgI walked in on my seven year old watching a television show that I had not seen. I know what you're thinking... you let your kids watch... T! V!.
YES
I watch TV with my kids, when they want to unwind I let them watch TV. They also play sports, swim, spend hours playing dress-up and make-believe they are mermaids, or princesses. I don't think TV is bad.
Which brings be back to my topic. So as I watch a little of this show it looks to me like it is a bit over my kids head, and that she shouldn't be watching it... I asked her to turn the channel, and she asked why. I told her that I didn't know enough about what she was watching and that I would have to find out.
That lead me to my trusty PC.
I googled the show she was watching and came across this very cool website. Commonsense Media has tons of information about television shows, movies, and DVD's, games, and more.
I have only begun to explore the system they use for rating, who is really doing the rating, and how accurate it fits me needs... but I was encouraged by the initial impressions and decided to share my findings.
